Dorathy Lynda Bachor, the first runner-up of Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) Season 5, launched her lingerie brand, MFC Lingerie (My Full Chest), on January 1, 2021, marking a significant milestone in her entrepreneurial journey.
The Delta State native, known for her vibrant personality and iconic “with my full chest” catchphrase from the 2020 BBNaija Lockdown season, has turned her fame into a platform for empowering women through fashion.
Addressing a Market Gap
MFC Lingerie was born out of a personal mission to cater to full-chested women, a demographic often underserved in the lingerie market.
Bachor emphasized, “My priority is making full chested women look and feel good. I want to provide the one-stop marketplace for full chested women to find all their lingerie needs.”
The brand also embraces inclusivity, designing for women of all sizes to feel confident, comfortable, and chic. The debut collection focuses on everyday basics, such as supportive bras, with plans for more provocative designs and expanded categories in the future.
Disrupting the Industry
In collaboration with a team passionate about redefining the lingerie market, MFC Lingerie offers affordable, high-quality pieces that prioritize fit and flattery for curvy figures. The brand’s launch aligns with Nigeria’s growing fashion industry, valued at $2 billion in 2020, where demand for body-positive clothing is rising.
Bachor’s vision taps into this trend, leveraging her 1.2 million Instagram followers (@thedorathybachor) to promote the brand and engage her audience directly.
Building on BBNaija Fame
Bachor’s journey from a BBNaija contestant to a celebrated entrepreneur reflects her resilience. Reflecting on her 2020 experience, she shared on Instagram, “Looking back at how 2020 started, if anyone told me I’d be half where I am now, I definitely would have had a good laugh. 2020 was all sorts of emotions mashed together, but it all ended in joy.”
Her brand’s name, inspired by her BBNaija catchphrase, resonated with fans, who launched “With My Full Chest” merchandise even before the lingerie line debuted. By 2022, MFC Lingerie celebrated its first anniversary, with Bachor gifting products to BBNaija Season 6 housemates, further cementing her influence.
Commitment to Empowerment
Bachor’s dedication to her brand is personal—she even tattooed “MFC” on her arm in September 2021, captioning it “Forever #MFC” on social media.
The brand’s focus on body positivity and accessibility has earned praise, with BellaNaija noting its appeal to curvy women through unique silhouettes and comfortable fabrics.
Despite challenges like post-BBNaija anxiety, Bachor’s entrepreneurial spirit, backed by her accountancy degree from Joseph Ayo Babalola University, continues to drive MFC’s success, alongside her e-commerce venture, Shop For Me, launched in 2018.
Looking Ahead
MFC Lingerie’s launch marks a promising start, with plans to expand into new designs and categories. As Nigeria’s fashion industry grows, projected to reach $3 billion by 2025, Bachor’s inclusive approach positions MFC as a leader in body-positive lingerie. Her story inspires aspiring entrepreneurs, proving that passion, authenticity, and strategic branding can transform a reality TV platform into a lasting legacy.
