Chief Executive John Lee has launched a major investigation into the deadly high-rise fire that has torn through Wang Fuk Court, claiming at least 44 lives so far.
Second Day of Horror
On Thursday morning, thick black smoke still poured from the eight-tower residential complex as firefighters fought flames for a second straight day. The blaze broke out Wednesday afternoon and quickly spread to seven of the eight blocks.

Special Task Force & Arrests
Lee told reporters in the early hours: “Police and fire services have formed a dedicated team to uncover exactly what happened.”
Three people two company directors and an engineering consultant have already been arrested on manslaughter charges.

By Thursday morning, crews had contained the blaze in four towers, but intense operations continue to put out remaining pockets and search for survivors.
