The late Chadwick Boseman, forever remembered as Marvel’s Black Panther, was awarded the 2,828th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Thursday – five years after his passing at age 43.
A Legacy in Three Iconic Roles
Boseman’s breakthrough came with:
- Jackie Robinson in 42 (2013)
- James Brown in Get On Up (2014)
- King T’Challa in the Black Panther franchise
His portrayal of the Wakandan king became a global cultural phenomenon, earning over $1.3 billion and an Oscar nomination for Best Picture.
Emotional Ceremony with Viola Davis
Oscar-winner Viola Davis delivered a heartfelt tribute as the star was unveiled on Hollywood Boulevard.
“Chadwick was a mighty elixir,” Davis said. “I hope the angels sang him home. His light shines brighter than any star on this street.”
Widow: “He Reached Across Oceans”
Simone Ledward-Boseman, Chadwick’s wife, shared how fans worldwide still celebrate his life. One woman flew from Malawi just to attend the ceremony.
“To know his work touched hearts on every continent – that warms my soul,” she said.
A Private Battle, Public Inspiration
Boseman filmed major roles including Black Panther, Da 5 Bloods, and Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom while privately fighting colon cancer. He never publicly discussed his illness before passing in August 2020.
Five years later, his star now joins legends on the Walk of Fame – a permanent reminder that some heroes never fade.
