Prada is not done shopping.
Lorenzo Bertelli – marketing chief and heir to the Prada empire – confirmed the family is open to new acquisitions once the €1.4 billion Versace takeover is sealed.
Speaking at Prada’s Milan HQ, the 37-year-old made it clear: “If the right opportunity comes, we will look at it.”
The Armani Question
Asked directly about Giorgio Armani (now up for grabs after the designer’s death in September), Bertelli said: “No contact has been made.” He stopped short of ruling it out forever.
Versace Is the Priority
Bertelli will become Executive Chairman of Versace the moment the deal closes. He called the purchase a personal green-light: “If I didn’t want it, it wouldn’t have happened.”
The plan for the struggling Italian icon? Slow, steady revival. “We’re not in a rush and we’re not anxious,” he said. Profitability will take time.
No Rush on Succession
Prada remains firmly in the hands of Miuccia Prada and Patrizio Bertelli. Lorenzo will eventually become Group CEO, but: “Everything is working perfectly right now – there’s no expiry date.”
Other Quick Updates
- No Milan stock listing anytime soon
- Early talks with EssilorLuxottica about smart glasses (nothing decided)
- Miu Miu continues to carry the group through the luxury slowdown
Bottom line: Prada just swallowed Versace – and the appetite for the next big bite is still there.
