Gunmen attacked a church gathering in Eruku town, Kwara State, on Tuesday evening, November 18, 2025, killing three worshippers and abducting several others, including the lead pastor.
The raid hit the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) during a meeting in Ekiti Local Government Area, turning a peaceful evening into a night of horror.
Chaos Inside the Sanctuary
Eyewitnesses said the armed intruders burst in and started shooting without warning. People dived for cover as bullets flew. Three church members died on the spot.
The attackers then rounded up survivors at gunpoint and forced them into nearby forests linking Eruku to surrounding villages. The pastor was among those taken.
Townwide Terror
The violence didn’t stop at the church doors. Gunmen sealed off key roads, firing wildly to scatter drivers and locals. Vehicles were left abandoned on the Ilorin highway as people ran for their lives.
One driver coming back from Federal Polytechnic, Bida, said the shooting started suddenly during his trip. “The whole place exploded in panic,” he recalled. “We just scattered into the bushes.”
Kwara’s Growing Nightmare
This latest strike adds to Kwara’s wave of bandit attacks and kidnappings, with churches and communities under constant threat.
Local leaders are pleading for urgent military help as fear grips the area. The state government promises to hunt down the killers, but residents say the raids are happening too often to ignore.
