Nollywood star Regina Daniels has spoken out regarding the ongoing public controversies tied to her marriage with Senator Ned Nwoko. She emphasized that her main focus remains dedicated to her children.
She also affirmed her absolute commitment to defending her mother, Rita Daniels, against increasing social media criticism.
The challenging situation expanded from a viral online clip last month. It grew to include accusations of substance use and reports of arrests within her extended family.
Daniels chose to confront the speculation directly on Wednesday. She shared an emotional video where she spoke frankly about her marital life, her sons, and the distress these events have caused her.
The Actress Reveals Private Struggle
In the video, the actress gave a glimpse into her personal distress: “Tell me why everyone else is sleeping while I can’t. I’m not going to cry. You don’t do that in front of the camera. This means I’m tough, and I’m not crying.”
The actress strongly appealed to the public, asking them to cease attacking her mother. She referred to her mother as her “pillar and protector.” Daniels revealed that her family initially opposed her union with Nwoko, but she chose to proceed out of deep affection.
- Family Warning: She recalled the strong resistance: “Everyone said no. My mom warned me, my brothers were fighting, breaking bottles.” She was so determined she offered herself for detention, stating, “Arrest me! My family doesn’t want me to marry the love of my life.”
- Dispelling Greed Claims: Daniels refuted persistent rumors that her mother forced the relationship for financial reasons. She maintained her family was financially stable.
- Mother’s Support: “You all should stop saying I got married out of greed. Excuse me, we were not broke! What amount of money can a man give to a mother who already has a child providing for the whole family?” Daniels asserted. She credited her mother for funding her siblings’ education through her own earnings.
Focus Shifted to the Children
In the same emotional video, Daniels spoke passionately about her two sons, Munir (born 2020) and Khalifa (born 2022). She pledged to protect, raise, and nurture them, irrespective of any marital difficulties she might encounter.
“I’m going to fight for my children. I’ll take them, train them, and raise them with or without your support,” she declared firmly.
Despite the highly emotional content, the actress reiterated her respect for her husband. “I did fall in love, and I still care and respect him. That’s love care and respect.” She explained her decision to avoid escalating personal disputes: “The only reason I’m not fighting you, Ned, is that I want Mona and Khalifa’s father’s name to remain strong. But they can take mine.”
In her accompanying post caption, she reinforced her personal accountability for her choices. “For the record, I don’t regret anything. Na only me carry my leg enter. This was a route I was meant to take not my final destination.”
