US Lawmaker Rejects Beijing: Don’t Lecture America on Foreign Policy

A member of the United States House of Representatives, Riley Moore, has sharply rebuked the Chinese government. Moore plainly stated that Beijing is in no position to dictate the foreign policy decisions of the United States.

Moore’s strong condemnation was a direct counter to China’s public disapproval. China had criticized U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent military threat against Nigeria, which was framed as an effort to “protect Christians from persecution.”

Congressman Dismisses China’s Sovereignty Warning

The controversy originated from a statement by a Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson on Wednesday. The spokesperson asserted that, as Nigeria’s strategic partner, China fundamentally “firmly opposes any country using religion and human rights as an excuse to interfere in other countries’ internal affairs or to threaten them with sanctions or force.”

In his pointed reply, Congressman Moore dismissed the Asian nation’s statement entirely. He labeled the Chinese government a “Communist autocracy.”

Moore affirmed his support for President Trump’s warning. He stated that the President is correct “to defend our brothers and sisters in Christ who are suffering horrific persecution, and even martyrdom, for their faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”

The lawmaker then issued a forceful challenge to Beijing’s moral authority:

“China will not dictate our foreign policy to us, and we will not be lectured to by a Communist autocracy that recently arrested 30 Christian pastors for their faith and throws ethnic minorities in concentration camps.”

Nigerian Government Denies Religious Targeting

The threat of military intervention from President Trump has produced varied public reactions among Nigerians. The Nigerian government, led by President Bola Tinubu, has formally denied the allegations of religious persecution.

The administration maintains that no citizen is targeted specifically based on their religious identity. Officials have argued that the insurgent groups operating in the region conduct indiscriminate attacks, striking individuals across all religious lines.

Do you think China’s statement was genuinely aimed at defending Nigeria’s sovereignty, or was it primarily a political tactic to undermine the United States? Share your take in the comment section below!
