On October 18, 2025, the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB) named Ezeoma Ezeibe as its third female president in 63 years.

The council, which oversees Nigeria’s registered insurance brokers, announced her swearing-in for October 24 in Lagos. Ezeibe’s deep expertise and leadership make her a strong fit to advance the council’s role in the industry.

Ezeibe has served as Vice President and Deputy President on the NCRIB’s Governing Board. “Her knowledge, integrity, and industry ties will strengthen our position,” the council said.

Her work across various insurance bodies has built trust and driven progress, setting the stage for her presidency.

Strong Academic Roots

Born into royalty, Ezeibe studied at Holy Rosary Secondary School in Umuahia and Our Lady of Mount Carmel College in Owerri, earning her West African School Certificate.

Over 40 years ago, she pursued law at Imo State University (now Abia State University), securing a Bachelor of Laws degree.

She later qualified as a Barrister-at-Law at the Nigerian Law School and earned a Master of Laws from the University of Lagos.

Her insurance career began in 1987 during her National Youth Service at Nigeria Reinsurance Corporation, mentored by Professor Joe Irukwu, SAN.

This experience shaped her early work, including reviewing his insurance publications. Ezeibe’s career grew from there, blending law and insurance expertise.

A Trailblazing Career

In 1991, Ezeibe joined Liberty Assurance Company as Company Secretary, Legal Adviser, and Head of Claims. A year later, she became the pioneering Company Secretary and Legal Adviser at Industrial & General Insurance Company.

She co-founded Crystal Trust Insurance Brokers Limited, where she remains Managing Director/CEO, driving innovation in the sector.

Ezeibe holds top qualifications: Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (London) with distinctions in Claims Practice and Strategic Risk Management, Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria, and Fellow of the NCRIB.

She has delivered over 40 free lectures on law, compliance, and insurance for groups like the NCRIB and African Insurance Brokers Association.

Industry and Global Impact

For nine years, Ezeibe advocated for the Nigerian Insurance Industry Reform Act of 2025, helping shape its framework. She has taught Marine Insurance at the Nigerian Chamber of Shipping for 14 years, earning awards for her work.

Her influence reaches the National Insurance Commission and Professional Insurance Ladies Association.

On the continental stage, Ezeibe made history as the first female Vice Chair of the African Insurance Brokers’ Association in 2025, after serving as Secretary and Treasurer.

She helped form the Africa Insurance Women Association, supporting its launch in Algiers in 2023. She also contributes to the International Chamber of Shipping’s Insurance Committee in London.

Leading with Vision

Ezeibe’s presidency marks a win for women in Nigeria’s insurance industry. Her journey from grassroots advocate to global leader signals a bold future for the NCRIB.

As she prepares to take office, the council expects her to drive innovation and growth. The Lagos ceremony will celebrate her rise, with hopes high for a stronger, more inclusive insurance sector under her leadership.
