On Friday, October 17, 2025, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife, celebrated his 51st birthday with prayers for Nigeria’s peace and growth.

Born on October 17, 1974, and crowned the 51st Ooni in August 2015, he used the occasion to renew his commitment to unity and national progress.

Moses Olafare, the palace’s media director, shared that the Ooni expressed deep gratitude to God for life and the strength to serve.

He described his role as one of purpose, aimed at fostering harmony and development across Nigeria and Africa.

Call for Unity and Progress

The Ooni emphasized Nigeria’s rich resources and potential, urging citizens to work together for a brighter future. “Our diversity is our strength,” he said.

He called on traditional leaders and the global Oduduwa community to avoid division and tackle national challenges collectively.

“I give thanks for God’s grace,” Ogunwusi said. “I pray for peace in Nigeria, wisdom for our leaders, and prosperity for all Oduduwa people worldwide.” His message highlighted the need for unity to unlock Nigeria’s promise.
