Hamas

On September 26, 2025, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas spoke to the UN General Assembly by video.

The U.S. canceled his visa, so he couldn’t attend in person. He rejected the 2023 Hamas attack on Israel and offered a plan for Gaza’s future.

No to Hamas Attack

Abbas said the October 7 attack by Hamas doesn’t reflect Palestinian values. “We don’t support it. Hamas must give up its weapons to us,” he urged.

He wants the Palestinian Authority to run Gaza’s security and government after the war.

Gaza’s Hardships

Abbas described Gaza’s pain—hunger, destruction, and displacement from Israel’s actions. “Our people face a brutal war,” he said, demanding justice and freedom for Palestinians.

Hope in Statehood

He thanked France, the U.K., and Canada for recognizing Palestine as a state. “This gives us hope for peace, but we need more action,” he said. He asked other countries to join in recognizing Palestine.

Strong Message

Abbas told Palestinians to stay strong. “No matter the pain, we’ll keep fighting to live,” he said, boosting their spirit in tough times.

Netanyahu’s Speech Next

All eyes are now on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He’ll speak at the UN on September 27 to explain Israel’s two-year war in Gaza.

Call for Support

Abbas urged world leaders to help stop the war, disarm fighters, and plan a peaceful future for Palestinians.
