Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has confirmed that Cole Palmer will be available for Saturday’s Premier League showdown with Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Speaking on September 19, 2025, ahead of the team’s final training session, Maresca said Palmer is “fine” but stressed that the rest of the squad still needs evaluation after a hectic week.
Quick Turnaround Poses Challenge
The Blues returned from their midweek Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich on Thursday, leaving minimal recovery time.
Maresca highlighted the impact of travel and the tight schedule, warning that some players may be doubtful for the weekend clash.
“We haven’t trained since Wednesday’s game, so we’ll assess everyone today to finalize the lineup,” he explained.
Guiu Returns to Strengthen Attack
Chelsea have recalled young striker Marc Guiu from his loan at Sunderland this month following Liam Delap’s injury.
Maresca praised the 18-year-old Spaniard’s potential, saying: “Marc is back because we plan to use him.
He’s a strong player with room to grow, and we know what he can bring in attack.” Guiu could offer fresh attacking options at Old Trafford.
Focus on Regaining Momentum
Maresca’s emphasis on squad fitness and the inclusion of Guiu reflects Chelsea’s strategic approach to a difficult away fixture.
Facing Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United, the Blues are eager to bounce back from their Champions League setback and set a positive tone for the rest of the season.
