The National Sports Commission (NSC) has assured full support for Team Nigeria as they gear up for the 2025 World Athletics Championships scheduled to hold in Tokyo from September 13 to 21.
NSC’s Commitment
In a statement on Thursday, Kola Daniel, media aide to NSC Director-General Bukola Olopade, emphasized that the athletes have the Commission’s complete backing.
“From the start, the NSC chairman, Mallam Shehu Dikko, made it clear that Nigeria must get it right in athletics. This is a moment of pride, and we trust our athletes to compete with determination and secure podium finishes,” Olopade said.
He also revealed that he would be present in Tokyo to provide frontline support, stressing that Nigerians at home and abroad are united in their encouragement of the team.

Nigeria will compete with a 15-member team made up of world-class athletes and emerging stars across sprints, hurdles, jumps, and throws.
