Burna Boy Warns INEC Against Manipulating Election Results

Grammy Award-winning Nigerian singer Burna Boy, born Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure transparency in the 2023 Presidential and National Assembly elections.

Social Media Statement

On Sunday, February 26, Burna Boy took to his verified Instagram account to caution INEC, writing:
“Let Nigeria decide o! @inecnigeria. No try any result magic.”

Context of the Election

Nigerians went to the polls on Saturday, February 25, 2023, to elect a new president and members of the National Assembly.

The three leading presidential candidates are:

  • Bola Ahmed Tinubu – All Progressives Congress (APC)
  • Atiku Abubakar – People’s Democratic Party (PDP)
  • Peter Obi – Labour Party (LP)

The elections have been marked by reports of violence, voter harassment, intimidation, and alleged rigging in multiple states.
