On November 11, 2020, Africa Brands Magazine announced the 2020 Africa Banking Brands Awards, scheduled for November 19 at Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.

The event will honor innovative financial institutions from Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, and Ghana for driving growth in Africa’s banking sector.

Recognizing Leadership and Innovation

The Africa Banking Brands Awards aim to celebrate leadership, innovation, and growth in banking. The awards recognize banks, payment solution providers, CEOs, products, and individuals who significantly advanced the industry, boosting Africa’s economic aspirations and global image.

Comprehensive Research Process

Desmond Esorougwe, Editor-in-Chief of Africa Brands Magazine, detailed the consumer-led survey behind the awards. The study analyzed over 5,000 banking and financial services brands across Africa, identifying 100 top banking brands.

“We calculated scores based on sample and population size per country, ensuring no duplication,” Esorougwe said.

Independent and Rigorous Analysis

Africa Brands Magazine partnered with Geopoll, a leader in emerging market research, and Fast Track Brand Communications, a premier African branding firm, to conduct the study.

The research establishes Africa’s most preferred banking brands, focusing on their contributions to social, economic, and environmental goals.

Impact on Africa’s Financial Sector

The awards highlight banks that promote financial inclusion, innovation, and sustainability. Winners demonstrate high standards in citizenship and transform Africa’s image in global markets. The event underscores the role of banking in fostering economic growth across the continent.

Event Significance

Set to draw industry leaders, the November 19 ceremony will showcase Africa’s banking achievements in 2020, a year marked by COVID-19 challenges. By recognizing innovative brands, the awards aim to inspire continued progress in Africa’s financial landscape.
