The Board and Management of Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc have announced the appointment of Temitope Hassan as the Company’s Secretary and Legal Adviser, effective January 6, 2020.
The news was shared in a statement to the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), signed by Managing Director Ravindra Singhvi, marking a key leadership update for the firm.
Background and Expertise
Temitope Hassan is a versatile lawyer with a robust educational background. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from London South Bank University, UK, a Bachelor’s in Insurance from the University of Lagos, and a Master’s in Business Administration from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. Before joining Dangote Sugar in 2020, she served as Company Secretary and Legal Adviser at UBA Pensions Custodian Limited and previously headed the Company Secretariat at Skye Bank Plc (now Polaris Bank). Her career began at Olaniwun Ajayi LLP, with further roles at Industrial & General Insurance Company and African Alliance Limited, where she honed skills in business development and corporate strategy.
Extensive Experience
With over 22 years of experience, Hassan brings expertise in company secretarial practice, legal drafting, dispute resolution, corporate governance, investor relations, regulatory compliance, and corporate services. She has participated in numerous training programs both in Nigeria and abroad, earning recognition as a certified trainer and accredited mentor in the National Mentoring Pilot Project UK. Additionally, she is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria.
About Dangote Sugar Refinery
Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc began operations in March 2000 as the sugar division of Dangote Industries Limited. Its Apapa port refinery, commissioned in 2001, initially processed 600,000 metric tons of raw sugar annually. A milestone was reached in December 2007 with the export of its first 1,500 metric tons of sugar to Ghana.
