The countdown to the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 has officially begun. With the tournament kicking off on December 21 in Morocco, organizers are making safety their top priority.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) expects thousands of spectators to flood the stadiums. To ensure a secure environment for everyone, CAF has released a rigorous set of security guidelines.

According to new rules published on Monday, fans must follow strict entry requirements. Authorities emphasized that security is non-negotiable. Therefore, every ticket holder will undergo mandatory security screening before entering the venues.

Ensuring a Smooth Experience

CAF’s primary goal is to guarantee order and a smooth match-day experience. Bottlenecks at entry gates can cause significant delays.

To avoid this, spectators are strongly advised to travel light. Fans should review the prohibited items list carefully before heading to the stadium.

Comprehensive List of Banned Items

To avoid refusal of entry, please leave the following items at home or in your vehicle:

  • Substances: Stadiums are strictly alcohol-free zones. Authorities have banned all alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs, and narcotics.
  • Dangerous Objects: Any item that could serve as a weapon is prohibited. This includes knives, sharp objects, glass bottles, and rigid containers.
  • Fire Hazards: To prevent panic and injury, fireworks, pyrotechnics, and flammable materials are forbidden.
  • Electronics: Mobile phones are allowed. However, fans cannot bring drones, radio-emitting devices, or professional recording equipment like cameras with detachable lenses.
  • Signage: CAF has a zero-tolerance policy for hate speech. Banners with racist, violent, or discriminatory language are banned. Unauthorized political, religious, or commercial signs will also be confiscated.
  • Noise and Obstructions: For the comfort of others, large umbrellas, oversized hats, and heavy bags are prohibited. Musical instruments and loud horns that disrupt the game are also not allowed.
  • Miscellaneous: Animals are strictly prohibited from entering stadium grounds.

A Call for Cooperation

These measures protect both fans and players. Organizers have requested full cooperation from all attendees.

By adhering to these guidelines, you help ensure safety for everyone. This allows the focus to remain where it belongs: on the world-class football unfolding on the pitch.
