Scam Alert: NIS Disowns ‘Fraudulent’ Online Hiring Claims

NIS

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has issued an urgent warning. The agency cautions the public against viral posts claiming it is currently recruiting.

The Service released an official statement on Wednesday via its X (formerly Twitter) handle. It categorically debunked these claims.

The agency clarified the situation simply: no new recruitment exercise is taking place.

Fraudsters Target Job Seekers

The NIS identified the Facebook posts as scams. These fraudulent schemes target unsuspecting job seekers.

Scammers often trick applicants to get sensitive personal information. Sometimes, they demand illegal processing fees for job slots that do not exist.

“The public is advised to ignore such posts, avoid engaging with them, and report the pages immediately,” the Service stated.

Status of Legitimate Recruitment

The NIS also cleared the air regarding valid applications.

The only legitimate recruitment process is the one recently concluded by the Civil Defence, Corrections, Fire and Immigration Board (CDCFIB).

The agency emphasized that results from that specific exercise are still pending. Therefore, any announcement suggesting a fresh portal has opened is false.

Commitment to Transparency

The Service reiterated its dedication to integrity. It urged citizens to rely solely on official communication channels for updates.

The Nigeria Immigration Service manages border security and visa administration. Due to the high demand for federal jobs, the agency is frequently a target for online impersonation scams.
