Celebrated Nigerian chef Hilda Baci has officially started the new year as a triple Guinness World Record (GWR) holder. This exciting news follows a confirmation from the global records authority. They revealed that her massive 2025 cooking event actually secured two distinct titles at the same time.
Baci gained international fame for her endurance and incredible culinary scale. Consequently, she updated her social media profiles on Tuesday to reflect her new “Chef X3” status. “Woke up a three-time Guinness World Records holder,” she shared with her followers. “What a way to step into 2026.”
The Surprise “Double Record” Discovery
The latest recognition stems from a high-profile event held in September 2025. At that time, Baci was celebrated for preparing the “Largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice.” However, a recent review by the GWR team showed that the sheer volume of the dish surpassed another existing category.
Andrew Fanning, Head of Client Partnering at GWR, informed Baci of the update via email. While comparing official guidelines, the team realized her achievement also qualified as the “Largest serving of rice” overall.
“I was shocked and happy at the same time,” Baci remarked. She noted that she was performing her usual morning routine when the email arrived. “What I thought was one record turned out to be two.”
A Career Defined by Culinary Milestones
This latest certification marks Baci’s third official world record. Her journey with Guinness World Records began in May 2023. Today, her impressive resume includes:
- Longest Cooking Marathon (May 2023): A 93-hour, 11-minute feat that first brought her global attention.
- Largest Serving of Nigerian-style Jollof Rice (September 2025): A massive pot weighing 8,780 kilograms prepared during a Lagos cookout.
- Largest Serving of Rice Overall (Confirmed January 2026): An additional title derived from that same record-breaking output.
Teamwork and Global Ambition
Baci was quick to credit her success to her collaborative partners. Specifically, she named Oreoluwa Atinmo as a primary visionary behind the project. She described the achievement as a testament to the scale and ambition of Nigerian cuisine.
“To my incredible team, this is OUR win,” Baci stated. She also expressed her gratitude toward the Guinness World Records team for the recognition. Furthermore, she thanked her supporters for believing in the project’s mission to bring Nigerian food to the global stage.
As she enters 2026, Baci’s position as Nigeria’s most decorated chef is firmly established. These records highlight her personal stamina. Moreover, they serve as a high-profile showcase for West African culinary traditions on a massive scale.
