CHEN ZHI

In a significant cross-border law enforcement operation, the Chinese Ministry of Public Security successfully extradited Chen Zhi on Wednesday, January 7, 2026. Chen, the prominent founder of the Prince Group, was brought back from Cambodia. China’s national broadcaster, CCTV, confirmed the news the following day.

Judicial Measures and Ongoing Investigation

Immediately upon his return to Chinese soil, authorities implemented compulsory legal measures against Chen. While the specific charges remain under wraps, officials have confirmed that the case is under active investigation.

Notably, the Ministry of Public Security clarified that Chen is a Chinese national. This distinction is crucial because it affirms the jurisdictional basis for both the extradition and his subsequent prosecution within the Chinese legal system.

Crackdown on the “Chen Zhi Criminal Group”

The extradition appears to be the first step in a much broader crackdown. Authorities have officially labeled the organization the “Chen Zhi criminal group.” According to reports from CCTV, the Ministry of Public Security plans to take the following decisive actions:

  • Publication of a Wanted List: China will soon release a formal list of high-priority members associated with the group.
  • Ultimatum for Fugitives: The government has issued a stern warning to all remaining members. Specifically, they are urged to surrender immediately to seek potential leniency.

This development highlights Beijing’s unwavering commitment to pursuing high-profile targets abroad. Furthermore, it demonstrates a strategic focus on dismantling organized criminal networks that possess significant international footprints.
