The approvals cover advanced systems to improve monitoring and secure battlefield links:
- Next-generation radars for better air and sea tracking
- Encrypted radio networks for reliable troop coordination
- Automated flight data recorders for safer and more efficient aircraft operations
Branch-Specific Boosts
- Army: Enhanced border radars and field communication gear
- Navy & Air Force: Digital take-off/landing systems to sharpen mission analysis and safety
Bigger Picture
The Ministry of Defence called the decisions essential for keeping a regional technological advantage and smoother operations. Most items are expected to be made in India under the self-reliance push, though final suppliers are still to be chosen.
This marks one of the year’s largest single-batch approvals as 2025 draws to a close.
