In a major development for the energy sector, the Dangote Petroleum Refinery has officially launched nationwide sales of petrol. Currently, the product is available at a pump price of ₦739 per litre. This new price is being implemented across all MRS Oil Nigeria Plc filling stations.

By utilizing more than 2,000 MRS stations nationwide, the refinery ensures that this price reduction reaches consumers in every corner of the country.

Guaranteed Supply to End Scarcity

Historically, the festive season in Nigeria is often plagued by fuel shortages and price hikes. However, the Dangote Refinery has intervened to change this narrative.

The facility has guaranteed a daily supply of 50 million litres of petrol. Consequently, this massive volume is expected to satisfy national demand and stabilize the market.

Why this matters for the economy:

  • Local Refining: Local production reduces Nigeria’s reliance on volatile global markets.
  • Forex Savings: By refining at home, the country conserves foreign exchange and strengthens the Naira.
  • Energy Security: A steady domestic supply protects businesses and households from international price shocks.

A Stern Warning Against Hoarding

While many marketers have embraced the new pricing, the refinery issued a warning to “unscrupulous operators.” It cautioned against any attempts to create artificial scarcity or manipulate supply to frustrate the price reduction.

“Any attempt to manipulate supply or create scarcity is unpatriotic,” the refinery stated. “We urge regulatory authorities to take firm action against such practices during this critical period.”

How to Report Overpricing

The refinery encourages Nigerians to avoid buying fuel at inflated prices. If any MRS station sells above the official ₦739 per litre rate, consumers should report it immediately.

Supporting National Economic Recovery

The Dangote Refinery emphasized that its operations are focused on the national interest. By keeping prices moderate and supply steady, the refinery aims to support Nigeria’s broader economic recovery.

Furthermore, the company invited other petrol station operators to patronize its high-quality, locally refined products. This collective effort will ensure that the benefits of lower fuel prices reach every Nigerian household and business.
