The Africa Cup of Nations trophy has started its worldwide journey ahead of next month’s finals, kicking off the official “Morocco 2025 Diaspora Tour” with a glittering unveiling in London on Thursday.
From here, the iconic silver cup will visit Paris and Tokyo before returning to Morocco, drumming up excitement among African communities overseas.
Victor Wanyama: “Qualifying is Brutal”
Former Kenya captain Victor Wanyama joined the ceremony and gave a blunt reminder of how tough the road to AFCON has become.
“You suffer to get there,” Wanyama said. “It’s physically and technically demanding. Nobody is joking around anymore the level across Africa is sky-high now.”
He pointed to Madagascar’s shock run in recent years as proof that smaller nations can upset the giants.
