The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) is starting a major promotion exercise this week. On Tuesday, examinations will begin for over 8,000 staff members.

This assessment covers workers across 165 different cadres. It includes staff from both the Administration and the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA).

Five Days of Digital Tests

Emeka Ezeh is the Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission. He announced the schedule on Sunday.

The exams will run for five days. They commence on Tuesday, November 25, and conclude on Saturday, November 29, 2025.

Candidates will take the tests at the National Open University Study Centre. This venue is located along Kubwa Road in Abuja.

Furthermore, the exams will be conducted as Computer-Based Tests (CBT). Ezeh explained that this digital approach ensures efficiency. It deepens the administration’s use of technology for official evaluations.

Minister Wike Approves Swift Action

The exams follow a directive from FCT Minister Nyesom Wike. He authorized the immediate conclusion of the 2024 promotion cycle.

According to Ezeh, the Minister wants to motivate the staff. Wike ensured that the request was approved quickly so that workers across all levels could benefit.

“The FCT Minister, as part of staff motivation, approved the request… to quickly conclude the 2024 promotion exercise,” Ezeh stated.

Building on Past Success

This is the second major digital exam this year. In August, the FCTA conducted its first-ever CBT promotion exam.

That previous exercise focused on senior staff. It cleared promotion arrears for Grade Level 16 officers. Consequently, 49 deputy directors were promoted to the rank of director.

Now, the administration is applying this digital standard to the general workforce. This ensures a transparent path for career progression in the civil service.
