President Donald Trump has delivered a stark ultimatum to Kyiv. He has officially established Thursday, November 27, as the Trump Ukraine peace deal deadline. The administration views the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday as the “appropriate time” to finalize the controversial agreement to end the war with Russia.
“I’ve had a lot of deadlines, but if things are working well, you tend to extend the deadlines. But Thursday is, we think, an appropriate time,” Trump stated in a recent interview.
Details of the 28-Point Ultimatum
The proposed accord outlines harsh terms for Ukraine. The 28-point draft demands significant concessions in exchange for an immediate ceasefire. Under the current terms, Kyiv must:
-
Cede Territory: Hand over vast portions of eastern territory to Russian control.
-
Slash Military: Drastically reduce the size of its standing army.
-
Reject NATO: Permanently pledge never to join the NATO alliance.
In return, the plan offers security guarantees via European warplanes stationed in neighboring Poland. However, it explicitly rules out deploying Western peacekeepers on Ukrainian soil.
Trump Warns of Total Loss
Defending the Trump Ukraine peace deal deadline, the President argued that prolonging the conflict invites further devastation. He suggested that if Kyiv refuses to settle now, they risk losing the very territories they are fighting to save.
“Say what you want, they were very brave,” Trump remarked regarding Ukrainian forces. However, he insisted a deal is necessary to stop the bleeding.
Furthermore, Trump dismissed fears that Moscow intends to invade other European nations. He claimed Vladimir Putin is “not looking for more war” and is already “taking punishment” for a conflict originally intended to be short.
Zelensky Refuses to “Betray” Ukraine
The pressure is now squarely on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. He has vehemently pushed back against the proposal, stating he would not “betray” his country by signing a document widely viewed as favorable to the Kremlin.
While the White House claims to be a neutral mediator, this hard deadline forces Ukraine into a corner. Kyiv must now choose between a painful compromise or the risk of losing vital support from its most powerful ally.
