The Federal High Court (FHC) has officially scheduled its annual holiday break. Specifically, the Federal High Court Christmas vacation is set to commence on December 19, 2025.
This recess will result in a temporary suspension of regular sittings. Dr. Catherine Christopher, the court’s Director of Information, released the details in a statement on Monday in Abuja.
According to the announcement, normal court proceedings across all judicial divisions will resume on January 7, 2026.
Legal Authority and Protocols
Chief Judge Justice John Tsoho authorized the notice titled “Notice of 2025 Christmas Vacation and Roster for Vacation Judges.”
Furthermore, this schedule adheres strictly to legal standards. It is issued in accordance with Order 46, Rule 4(c) of the Federal High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2019 (as amended).

Issues regarding the arrest or release of vessels.
-
Matters of urgent national importance.
Vacation Judges List
Dr. Christopher provided a comprehensive list of judges assigned to manage these essential duties during the holiday. The roster is as follows:
-
Abuja Division: Justice Emeka Nwite and Justice Musa Liman.
-
Lagos Division: Justice Akintayo Aluko and Justice Isaac Dipeolu.
-
Port Harcourt Division: Justice P. M. Ayua and Justice A. T. Mohammed.
-
Enugu Judicial Division: Justice Folashade Giwa-Ogunbanjo.
In closing, the Chief Judge, Hon. Justice John T. Tsoho, extended his seasonal greetings. He wished all judges and staff a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
