Sir Kessington Adebutu, known as Baba Ijebu, announced a ₦1 billion donation for each of Sagamu, Ikenne, and Iperu-Remo to support community growth. He shared this during a symposium on Friday, October 17, 2025, celebrating his 90th birthday.
The event, organized by the Iperu Akesan Development Association, was themed “Odole Odua: Wealth Creation and Sustainable Development.”
Touched by the celebration, Adebutu said, “This love pushes me to give more to Remoland.” He asked Oba Babatunde Ajayi, the Akarigbo of Remoland, to pick a ₦1 billion project for Sagamu. He also urged local groups in Ikenne and Iperu-Remo to use the funds for meaningful projects.
Admiration for a Giving Spirit
Prof. Ebun Oduwole, Vice-Chancellor of Ajayi Crowther University, praised Adebutu as a selfless leader. “His generosity in health, education, and empowerment is unmatched,” she said. She suggested he fund a university chair to honor his legacy.
Panelists Oluwasina Sofola and Gbenga Owokolade called Adebutu an inspiration. They said his love for his people influences future generations and described him as a national icon.
Support from Leaders
Oba Babatunde Ajayi, the Akarigbo, lauded Adebutu’s kindness. “He’s a shining example,” Ajayi said, noting his help in building palaces.
He urged others to follow suit. Chief Jide Sosan of Iperu-Remo agreed, saying Adebutu’s giving spirit is a model for all.
Oladipupo Adebutu, his son and a 2023 Ogun governorship candidate, promised to continue his father’s inclusive service.
Adetutu Buraimo, symposium chair, said Adebutu’s work in schools, hospitals, and empowerment shows wealth means lifting others.
Baba Ijebu’s Lasting Impact
Born on October 24, 1935, in Iperu-Remo, Adebutu founded Premier Lotto Limited, a top Nigerian gaming company.
As Odole Odua, he links tradition with progress. His ₦3 billion pledge strengthens his role as a champion of community growth, earning widespread respect.
