Sotheby’s Abu Dhabi exhibition

On October 1, 2025, Sotheby’s revealed six world-renowned paintings valued at $150 million at a Saadiyat Island museum in Abu Dhabi. For the first time in the Middle East, visitors can experience these iconic works firsthand.

Iconic Artists on Display

The exhibition includes masterpieces by legendary artists:

  • Vincent van Gogh
  • Frida Kahlo
  • Paul Gauguin
  • Edvard Munch
  • René Magritte
  • Camille Pissarro

Furthermore, three of these paintings have not been shown publicly in over 50 years, making the exhibit a rare cultural event.

Expert Perspectives

Julian Dawes, Sotheby’s Head of Impressionist and Modern Art in New York, described the collection as “the pinnacle of art history.”

He also noted that the paintings could fetch far beyond their estimated value at auction.

Part of a Global Tour

After Abu Dhabi, the artworks will travel to London and Paris. Finally, they will return to New York for auctions starting November 17, 2025.

Significance of the Exhibit

This showcase highlights the global appeal of these masterpieces and underscores Abu Dhabi’s growing role as a cultural hub. By presenting art rarely seen in the region, it attracts both local and international audiences.

Looking Ahead

The upcoming auctions in November are expected to draw significant attention. Consequently, they may set new records for these historic works.
