Chiamaka Nnadozie, Nigeria’s 24-year-old goalkeeper, secured fourth place in the Women’s Yashin Trophy at the 2025 Ballon d’Or in Paris, marking a milestone as the first African female goalkeeper recognized at the event. She joined Brighton from Paris FC in July.
Stellar Performances
Nnadozie led Nigeria’s Super Falcons to their tenth Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title this summer, earning Best Goalkeeper with four clean sheets.
She also helped Paris FC win their first Coupe de France in 20 years before her transfer.
Brighton’s Pride
Brighton coach Dario Vidosic praised Nnadozie’s global recognition. “We’re thrilled for her and the entire club.
Being honored at the Ballon d’Or is huge,” he said, also noting teammate Michelle Agyemang’s Women’s Kopa Trophy nomination.
Inspiring Journey
Vidosic highlighted Nnadozie’s impact with Nigeria and Agyemang’s with England, both winning continental titles.
“Their summer successes show their value to their teams,” he said, adding that Nnadozie’s rise fulfills her childhood dreams.
Rising Star
As Brighton’s top goalkeeper, Nnadozie has made 14 saves in three Women’s Super League games, ranking third in the league and cementing her status as a world-class talent.
