Russian forces launched fresh attacks on Zaporizhzhia in southeastern Ukraine early Monday, leaving three people dead and two others injured.
The city of nearly 700,000 residents endured at least ten aerial bombs that triggered explosions and fires across several districts.
Governor Reports Heavy Damage
Governor Ivan Fedorov described the strike as a wave of blasts that quickly set buildings ablaze. According to him, the assault:
- Destroyed 15 apartment blocks
- Damaged 10 private houses
- Shattered several business premises
Emergency crews continue clearing debris while officials assess the full scale of destruction.
Ukraine Downs Over 100 Drones
Meanwhile, Ukraine’s Air Force confirmed it intercepted and shot down 132 Russian drones overnight. Nevertheless, nine drones struck seven locations in different regions, causing fresh damage.
Injuries Reported in Sumy Region
In the northeast, drone strikes pounded the Sumy region. Governor Oleh Hryhorov noted that two civilians sustained injuries, while homes and public facilities also took direct hits.
Kyiv Area Also Targeted
Furthermore, the Kyiv region faced another wave of attacks. Emergency services reported one civilian injury along with structural damage to residential buildings and private properties.

Consequently, Ukrainian officials have urged citizens to remain on high alert as Russia intensifies its use of both drones and missiles in multiple regions. The pattern of overnight strikes highlights the growing threat facing major cities across the country.
