Belgian rail company Vecturis has entered into a Technical Support and Investment Agreement (TSIA) with Traxport Rail Services Ltd. of Nigeria. The deal marks a significant move to modernize Nigeria’s freight rail industry and promote cleaner, more efficient transport solutions.

Advancing Nigeria’s Rail Infrastructure

Through the agreement, Vecturis will provide technical support, investment, and global expertise to help Traxport expand its freight operations. The goal is to improve performance, strengthen reliability, and introduce sustainable rail systems that can transform the way goods are moved across Nigeria.

Emeka Ndu, Chairman of Traxport Rail Services, highlighted the importance of the partnership:

“Vecturis brings the experience we need to overcome challenges and deliver modern rail solutions. Together, we are not just moving cargo; we are building a safer, cleaner, and more efficient transport future with LNG-powered locomotives capable of carrying LNG and CNG across the country.”

Vecturis’ Experience and Commitment

Eric Peiffer, CEO of Vecturis, expressed confidence in Nigeria’s rail potential:

“Nigeria is one of the fastest-growing freight rail markets in Africa. By combining our technical know-how with Traxport’s local vision, we believe this partnership will drive significant improvements in sustainability, service delivery, and reliability.”

Supporting Cleaner, Safer Transport

This collaboration aligns with Traxport’s mission to reduce road traffic, cut emissions, and open up new economic opportunities. The planned use of LNG-powered locomotives will help ease pressure on Nigeria’s highways while providing a greener alternative for moving goods across long distances.

Proven Global Track Record

Headquartered in Belgium, Vecturis has over 30 years of experience managing and rehabilitating rail systems in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. The company has successfully introduced advanced rail technologies and improved operations in countries such as Mozambique, Cameroon, Madagascar, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

By leveraging this expertise, Vecturis and Traxport aim to reshape Nigeria’s freight rail industry, making it more efficient, sustainable, and competitive on a global scale.
