Kenyan entertainer DJ Bash has spoken out about the personal struggles that have recently put him in the spotlight. The popular DJ, known for his high-energy sets and presence on the decks, revealed during a candid social media live session that his biggest challenge has been dealing with the demands of his baby mama, who he says pushed him into living beyond his means.
Costly Demands and Strained Finances
According to Bash, the relationship breakdown between him and his child’s mother was fueled by what he described as unrealistic expectations. He disclosed that she insisted on a costly lifestyle that placed heavy financial pressure on him, forcing him to make sacrifices that affected both his career and personal wellbeing.
One of the main points of contention, he explained, was the issue of school fees. Bash revealed that he has been paying over KSh 130,000 per term for his son’s education, a figure he felt was excessive. While he acknowledged his responsibility as a father, he questioned whether such a financial burden was fair, especially when he has limited access to his child.
“I have been working so hard for my son, paying expensive school fees just because someone wanted to live the big life. Yes, it’s my duty to take care of my child, but is it really fair to pay more than KSh 130,000 per term for a son I love but hardly get to see?” Bash said.
Influence of a Wealthy Sponsor
The DJ also suggested that his baby mama’s change in lifestyle was influenced by her association with a wealthy foreign sponsor, which raised her expectations and added further strain to their relationship. He shared his frustration at being manipulated into keeping up appearances, even when it meant neglecting his own needs.
“Just because someone found another person to take care of them does not mean the rest of us are living smoothly. I can’t even take holidays because all my energy goes into providing for my son. It hurts when you sacrifice, but the people you are trying to support make you feel small. I will always be there for my son Neo, but I am done with being manipulated just to impress ungrateful people,” he added.
Emotional and Mental Toll
Beyond the financial struggles, DJ Bash admitted that the situation has taken a toll on his mental health. He confessed that the constant battles and lack of access to his son left him feeling drained and, at times, depressed. His openness about his mental state is not new, as weeks earlier he admitted to struggling emotionally and even criticized a local media house for misrepresenting his story.
In his recent remarks, Bash clarified that he holds no resentment towards his baby mama but is hurt by the fact that his sacrifices are not acknowledged. He stressed that his main concern is being present in his son’s life, something he says is being denied despite his efforts.
Public Reaction and Broader Discussion
His story has sparked widespread discussion online, with fans and fellow entertainers weighing in on the challenges faced by single fathers in Kenya. For many, Bash’s openness sheds light on the often-overlooked struggles men endure while balancing parenthood, financial responsibilities, and emotional wellbeing.
The DJ’s revelations highlight not only the pressures of co-parenting in difficult circumstances but also the broader issues of mental health and public perception. While the debate continues, DJ Bash remains adamant that he will continue to stand by his son, even if it means battling personal and financial hardship along the way.
