Akothee Defends Herself Against Human Trafficking Claims: “Call Police”

Kenyan singer and businesswoman Akothee has once again found herself at the center of controversy after being accused by some social media users of involvement in human trafficking. The claims surfaced shortly after the dramatic rescue of Diana Chepkemoi, a Kenyan woman who had been trapped in Saudi Arabia under harsh conditions.

Social Media Backlash After Diana’s Rescue

When news broke of Diana Chepkemoi’s return home, many Kenyans online expressed anger toward individuals they believe enable the exploitation of young women abroad. Among those singled out was Akothee, with critics accusing her of running a scheme that allegedly sends Kenyan girls to the Middle East, where some end up in abuse, forced labor, or prostitution.

Akothee’s Strong Response

True to her outspoken character, Akothee did not hold back. Taking to her social media platforms on September 7, the artist dismissed the claims and listed a series of other accusations that have been thrown her way over the years. She noted that Kenyans have often branded her with negative labels, ranging from allegations of being a poor role model, having multiple baby daddies, to claims of benefiting from her foundation for personal gain.

In her fiery statement, Akothee sarcastically invited those accusing her to take legal action. “Loved by many, hated by few, respected by all. Call police. Kenyans have accused me of everything that could kill me. They even accused me of having HIV, stealing from my foundation, being Illuminati, and now trafficking girls. If I am guilty, go to DCI or even Supreme Court,” she declared.

Brushing Off the Allegations

Akothee further argued that she has grown used to criticism and trolling from a section of Kenyans who constantly look for faults in her life. She insisted that regardless of the accusations, she remains unapologetic about her lifestyle and will continue to live boldly. “From today, anything you hear about me, believe it—it’s true. You can even add your own,” she wrote, brushing off the storm with her trademark humor.

A Reputation for Boldness

This latest episode is not new for Akothee, who has built a reputation as one of Kenya’s most outspoken celebrities. Over the years, she has consistently hit back at critics and refused to be intimidated by public opinion. Her latest remarks only cement her status as a fearless entertainer who confronts controversy head-on.
