Ecobank Group, a leading pan-African banking institution, appointed Chinedu Ikwudinma as Group Executive and Group Chief Risk Officer (GCRO) in January 2022.
Chinedu Ikwudinma’s Appointment as GCRO
In January 2022, Ecobank elevated Chinedu Ikwudinma from Group Chief Credit Officer, a role he held since June 2019, to Group Executive and GCRO, succeeding Eric Odhiambo, who transitioned to Group Executive for Corporate and Investment Banking. Ecobank Group CEO Ade Ayeyemi praised Ikwudinma’s appointment, stating, “Chinedu is a consummate banker with extensive risk management experience, bringing strong credit analysis and structuring acumen to the role.” The appointment reflected Ecobank’s commitment to fostering internal leadership talent.
Ikwudinma’s Extensive Background
With over 26 years at Citigroup, Ikwudinma held senior roles in Commercial Banking, Corporate & Investment Banking, and Risk Management, including Managing Director of Citibank Uganda and Head of Corporate Banking at Citibank Zambia.
He also served as Managing Director of Nova Merchant Bank in Nigeria from September 2017 to August 2018.
A risk management specialist, Ikwudinma has 25 years of experience in credit approvals across diverse products like Corporate Finance, Project Finance, Trade Finance, Derivatives Structures, and Working Capital solutions.
He holds an MSc in Structural Engineering and an MBA from the University of Lagos, Nigeria.
