Renowned Nigerian broadcaster and actor, Sadiq Daba, has passed away after a long battle with leukaemia and prostate cancer. He died on the evening of Wednesday, March 3, 2021.

His death was confirmed by popular filmmaker Kunle Afolayan, who recently worked with Daba on the 2020 film Citation. Afolayan revealed he spoke with the late actor’s wife and son, who confirmed the sad news.

Daba had received widespread public support during his illness. Billionaire philanthropist Femi Otedola and many other well-meaning Nigerians contributed financially towards his medical treatment abroad. His struggle drew attention and sympathy across social media platforms.

Sadiq Daba rose to national prominence in the 1980s as a presenter and actor on the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA). He featured in several acclaimed productions including the classic television series Cock Crow at Dawn and the award-winning movie October 1st.
