Former U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama is set to star in a new children’s television show titled “Waffles + Mochi,” which premieres on Netflix starting March 16, 2021.
A Culinary Adventure for Kids and Families
The show follows the journey of two puppets, Waffles and Mochi, who dream of becoming chefs.
With the help of Mrs. Obama and a magical flying shopping cart, they explore different foods, cultures, and recipes from around the world.
“It’s all about good food: discovering it, cooking it, and of course, eating it,” said Mrs. Obama. “Kids will love it, but I know that adults will also get plenty of laughs—and some tips for the kitchen.”
Supporting Healthy Families Across America
Michelle Obama also shared her excitement about teaming up with Partnership for a Healthier America to deliver fresh ingredients to families in need across the U.S., encouraging them to cook healthy meals together at home.
Produced by the Obamas’ Higher Ground Productions
Waffles + Mochi is produced by Higher Ground Productions, the media company founded by Barack and Michelle Obama in 2019 in collaboration with Netflix.
The company aims to use the power of storytelling to spotlight topics such as race, democracy, civil rights, and social issues.
