SIFAX Group, a leading Nigerian logistics conglomerate, pledged robust support for farmers seeking to export agricultural produce at the Meet The Farmers Conference held in Dubai, UAE, on November 27–28, 2019.

The company aims to leverage its expertise to tap into Dubai’s $100 billion agricultural import market.

Leadership’s Commitment

Mariam Afolabi, Executive Director of Compliance at SIFAX Group, represented Group Executive Vice Chairman Taiwo Afolabi as the guest speaker. She emphasized SIFAX’s capacity to assist farmers with its experienced team, advanced equipment, and global reach.

“SIFAX Group is your go-to company for export services. We offer comprehensive logistics solutions for Nigerian farmers targeting international markets,” Afolabi stated.

Comprehensive Logistics Services

SIFAX Group stands out as a one-stop multimodal company in Nigeria, offering services across the logistics value chain. These include port terminal management, shipping, clearing and forwarding, warehousing, haulage, off-dock services, stevedoring, and aviation ground handling, including passenger, cargo, mail, and ramp handling. The company’s integrated approach ensures seamless support for exporters.

Infrastructure and Partnerships

Adekunle Oyinloye, Group Managing Director, highlighted SIFAX’s investments in personnel and equipment. At Tin Can Island Port, SIFAX operates a terminal with four berths, serving major shipping lines like MSC and MOL.

At the airport, its subsidiary SAHCO Plc boasts West Africa’s top warehouse and partners with leading international airlines, ensuring efficient air exports.

Meet The Farmers Conference Overview

The Meet The Farmers Conference, organized by Crenov8 Consulting, connects farmers, airlines, investors, logistics firms, and government officials to boost Africa’s agricultural potential.

The 2019 event in Dubai focused on export plans for the UAE and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) markets, emphasizing quality testing and certification to meet international standards.

Nigeria’s Export Opportunities

The conference highlighted Dubai’s $100 billion agro-import market as a key opportunity for Nigerian farmers.

Crenov8’s Project Supervisor, Babatunde Adenuga, stressed the need to strengthen farmers’ capacity to meet UAE’s stringent food safety and quality standards, such as Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP). SIFAX’s logistics expertise positions it to guide farmers in overcoming these challenges.

Driving Agricultural Growth

SIFAX Group’s commitment aligns with Nigeria’s push to diversify exports beyond oil, with agriculture as a key focus.

By facilitating access to the UAE market, SIFAX aims to help farmers export crops like cocoa, wheat, and ginger, building on Nigeria’s 20% share of UAE agricultural imports. This initiative supports sustainable economic growth and stronger Nigeria-UAE trade ties.
